The Punishment Was Upon Him

You might have heard people asking, if God is so good, why doesn't He forgive everyone and let them off? Well, that would make Him less than good, less than just, less than God.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
